Limay:
Our bread and butter. Large river that drains out of Lago Nahuel Huapi, the lake Bariloche overlooks . The mouth or ¨boca¨ is only 15 minutes from town.
A chance for large raibows and browns. End of season (March - April), the big browns from the lake enter the river to spawn.
Three different sections for day float. Bigger gear, a stiff 6 weight or 7 weight rod to cast a teeny 250 line or shooting head. Large streamers, wooly buggers size #4 & #2, muddlers, leeches, sculpins.
Manso:
This large river runs south of Bariloche joining many lakes on its way to the Pacific. It´s turquoise colour is due to glacier melt from Mount Tronador, the highest peack in the region, standing 11.000 feet, it’s a natural border with Chile.
The Manso River cuts accross the Andes through a very lush valley with dense vegetation called valdivian jungle. Here we find very ancient forests of trees called Alerces, some thousands of years old like the sequoias or red woods on the West Coast.
Fishing options:
For those seeking for more solitude we offer overnight trips, one to three nights camping out on the Limay, and Chubut rivers. We have a pack boat that goes ahead to set up camp. We use large tents, with cots and sleeping bags.
Early season November-December, with high water, it’s a two day, one night float.
Mid summer January-February three days, two nights. Usually too low to float in late summer.
On these isolates places we may see wildlife such as red deer, guanaco, rhea, fox, condor, and puma.
There are many combinations to be made and you can easily spend a week fishing all the different waters. Only one and a half hours max from Bariloche.
We can arrange for a day birdwatching with renown guide Lorenzo Sympson, whom will take you to visit the roosting sites of the legendary andean condor.
Other optios are horse back riding, rafting, biking, hicking, golfing.
